Exceptional Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite – Hotel Le Negresco
Nice, France
The Exceptional Penthouse Suite places Hôtel Le Negresco firmly in the 21st century without renouncing its history and heritage. Particular care was taken to preserve the hotel’s decorative legacy, as the project occupies the former private apartments of Madame Augier, the historic owner and a renowned collector. Oriented toward the future, this project is a contemporary creation fully in tune with its time.

Hôtel Le Negresco is not merely a place, but the symbol of an era and of the passion of those who shaped it.
Shared entrance
The elevator leads to a shared entrance serving both suites; this space deliberately echoes the hotel’s circulation areas, with white walls and the famous Vasarely-designed carpet. It features a bench from the “Barbara” collection, designed by Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel and produced by Duvivier Canapés.
Anterchamber
The double door of the Suite opens onto an antechamber lounge. The walls are adorned with antique wood paneling acquired by Mrs. Augier, highlighted by the contrast with the white walls.
Living room
The circular living room, housed in the dome, is the centerpiece of the Suite. The white and gold wood panelling and Versailles-style parquet flooring have been renovated without modification. The project’s intention is to reveal this heritage through light. The sofas are an original creation designed by Ligne Roset.
Office
Facing the terrace and positioned between the private area and the reception space, the desk also serves as a TV lounge. Restored identically, its ceiling features a unique “fabric marquetry” enhanced by paneling adorned with a bookcase and a collection of historical photographs revealing pages from the history of the Negresco Hotel. Around the table, chairs designed by Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel and produced by Henryot complete the ensemble.
Exceptional Jeanne Suite
The suite retains its original volume and authentic woodwork, which contrasts with a varnished walnut paneling identical to that of the study. It is the repetition of these materials that gives coherence to the entire suite. The selected furniture respects the eclecticism so dear to Mrs. Augier, and the tapestry remains in its original position.
Exceptional Paul Suite
The design of the Suite likewise seeks to make the most of the existing decorative heritage. The perimeter ceiling frieze has been preserved and enhanced with specific decorative elements in fibrous plaster. Similarly, the closet doors have been reused as wall paneling to highlight the headboard. As throughout the entire floor, a dialogue between modernity and tradition is expressed, notably through the use of wood paneling. The classic black-and-white stripe brings light and dynamism to the room’s color palette.
