Designing The Senses

On April 2, 2025, Valérie Binder, Managing Director of the Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel, took part in the Designing the Senses event held at Anahi (Paris), organized by the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in partnership with KKDC and FPV. The experience offered an immersive journey through three scenes—city, mountain, and beach—designed to explore the role of the senses in how we perceive a place.

Transitions between scenes were made with participants blindfolded, enhancing the impact of each atmosphere. This approach led Valérie Binder to rethink certain aspects of interior design, particularly the correlation between acoustics, lighting, and the overall ambiance of the spaces she creates. The experience highlighted how the use—or absence—of our senses shapes our perception of a space, influences the way we live, and fosters connections between people.
